A well-planned rough-in makes the rest of the project run smoothly — for your drywaller, your painter, and the final trim. We handle both the rough-in and the trim-out, so you deal with one electrician from start to finish.

Kitchen Electrical Renovations

Basement Finishing Electrical

Basement finishing is one of the most common projects in Toronto. The electrical rough-in needs to happen before drywall — all boxes, circuits, and wire runs go in while the framing is open. We plan basement electrical properly: correct loads for rec rooms, home offices, bathrooms, bedrooms, and wet bars. GFCI protection in wet areas, pot lights, and a clean rough-in inspection before your drywaller is booked.

Bathroom Electrical Renovations

Bathrooms have specific code requirements — GFCI-protected outlets, dedicated exhaust fan circuits, and proper lighting. Older Toronto homes often have inadequate bathroom wiring. We replace undersized or non-GFCI-protected circuits, add circuits for heated floors or towel warmers, and install proper exhaust fan wiring.

Home Additions & New Builds

Rear additions, third-floor additions, coach houses, and laneway suites all need new circuits from the main panel. If the addition is large enough, a sub-panel is more practical. We rough-in new additions to code and coordinate with your architect or GC on circuit requirements, panel location, and service entry.

Planning Ahead During Rough-In

One of the best investments during a rough-in is planning for the future. Adding a rough-in box for a future outlet, running an extra circuit stub, or pulling conduit for future low-voltage costs very little during construction — but saves significant money later. We're happy to talk through what makes sense for your project.

Working with Your General Contractor

We work with homeowners directly and as the electrical sub on GC-led projects. We show up on time, communicate clearly, and coordinate around the schedule. If the GC needs the rough-in inspection done before drywall, we plan for that. References from GCs we've worked with are available on request.

How the Work Is Done

1. 1Scope review with you and your GC — confirm circuit layout, device locations, panel capacity, and special requirements.
2. 2Panel assessment to confirm available capacity before work begins.
3. 3Mark device locations on framing — outlets, switches, fixtures, smoke detectors, dedicated appliances.
4. 4Drill through framing and run cable routes back to the panel.
5. 5Install all rough-in boxes and run NMD-90 cable or EMT conduit where required.
6. 6Install dedicated circuits for kitchen counters, laundry, dishwasher, range, bathroom, and high-draw appliances.
7. 7Wire smoke and CO detectors per Ontario code.
8. 8ESA permit filed — rough-in inspection completed before drywall.
9. 9Return for trim-out after drywall and paint — devices, fixtures, covers, and panel connections.
10. 10Final ESA inspection completed and signed off.
